Almont
Campground, sandwiched between CO 135 and the Gunnison River, is just outside of Almont, to the south. Almont is on your way between Gunnison and Crested Butte.
Being so close, you get noise from the highway, but the sound of the water drowns a lot of it. The campground is a favorite for fishermen and rafters.
There are 10 sites, 5 for trailers and 5 tents-only. Each site has a table and fire ring. The campground has vault toilets and water. Because it is close to the river you should expect mosquitos.
Campsite #9 is especially nice and is pictured here. The river is just through those trees.
