Motorcycle Camping on Berthoud Pass

US 40 runs over Berthoud Pass from Empire to Winter Park. Along the way there are three motorcycle-accessible campgrounds, one on the Empire side (Mizpah Campground) and two on the Winter Park side (Robbers Roost and Idlewild Campgrounds).

Mizpah Campground

Mizpah CampgroundMizpah Campground is on US 40 on the east side of Berthoud Pass, about six miles west of Empire. It is a very short distance off the highway on a gravel road that is not great, but still passable on a motorcycle. First-come, first-served.

There are 10 campsites with water, toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. The whole campground is very shady.

The fee is $16 per night.

Update as of February 2019: Mizpah is closed indefinitely due to a culvert failure and associated road damage.
