Motorcycle Camping in the Deckers Area

Colorado Highways 67 and 126 run from US 285 at Pine Junction down through Deckers to Woodland Park. This route is a favorite for bikers in the area and very scenic. There are two motorcycle-accessible campgrounds north of Deckers (Kelsey and Lone Rock) and three further south, close to Woodland Park (Painted Rocks, Colorado, and South Meadows).

Kelsey Campground

About 10 miles north of Deckers, on Colorado Highway 126, is Kelsey Campground. The nightly fee is $22 and there are 17 sites offering tables and fire rings with water and toilet facilities scattered throughout the sites.

All roads are gravel, and they’re a bit rutted in places, but passable on a motorcycle. Campground hosts sell firewood.

Lone Rock Campground

Barely a mile north of Deckers, on Colorado Highway 126, is Lone Rock Campground. The Platte River flows right beside it, offering Blue Ribbon trout-fishing water.

The nightly fee is $22 and there are 17 sites offering tables and fire pits with water and toilet facilities scattered throughout the sites.

All roads are paved, making it a good campground for motorcyclists. Campground hosts sell firewood.

Painted Rocks Campground

Just a few miles north of Woodland Park, on Colorado Highway 67, you’ll find several motorcycle-accessible campgrounds, including Painted Rocks Campground.

This facility is actually about half a mile off 67 up a good gravel road. It is sited among a number of interesting and colorful rock formations from which it draws its name.

The nightly fee is $23 and there are 18 sites offering tables and fire pits with water and toilet facilities scattered throughout the sites. All roads are good gravel. Campground hosts sell firewood.

This facility has 62 sites offering tables and fire pits with water and toilet facilities scattered throughout the sites. All roads are paved.
