Motorcycle Camping Along Trail Ridge Road

US 34 passes through Rocky Mountain National Park along what is known as Trail Ridge Road. Campgrounds are available inside the park on both sides of Milner Pass and outside the park on the west side. The campgrounds that are motorcycle-accessible are all on the west side of the pass and, running east to west, are Timber Creek, Green Ridge, Stillwater, and Sunset Point Campgrounds.

Timber Creek Campground

Timber Creek CampgroundThe only campground in Rocky Mountain National Park on the west side of US 34 going up over Trail Ridge Road, Timber Creek Campground has 98 sites and has a nightly fee of $26. Water, toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables are provided.

There is a lot of shade. This campground remains open all year round and there are no reservations – first come, first served.

It has good motorcycle access.

 

Green Ridge Campground

Green Ridge CampgroundNestled on the south edge of Shadow Mountain Reservoir, Green Ridge Campground is 1.3 miles off US 34 on a paved road, which makes it great for campers on motorcycles.

There are 78 campsites with water, toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. Some sites are shaded, but not all. The fee is $21 per night.

All sites have level tent sites, although some are only large enough for one tent and tents are restricted to the designated pads.

 

Stillwater Campground

Stillwater CampgroundStillwater Campground is on the north end of Lake Granby, by the water’s edge. At this point along US 34, Trail Ridge Road is to the east and Granby is further south.

There are 129 campsites with water, toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. Some sites are shaded, but not all. The fee is $24 per night. All sites have level tent sites, although some are only large enough for one tent and tents are restricted to the designated pads.

Firewood is available from the campground host. Much of this campground is designated for RVs.

This campground is easily motorcycle-accessible.

Sunset Point Campground

Sunset Point CampgroundSunset Point Campground is at the south end of Lake Granby, on a paved road, by the water’s edge, and even has specially designated motorcycle parking.

The campground is just off US 34 where it comes down from Trail Ridge Road. There are 25 campsites with water, toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables. Some sites are shaded, but not all.

The fee is $24 per night. All sites have level tent sites.
