Redstone Campground

Redstone Campground is just a couple miles north of the town of Redstone, along CO 133 as you head south over McClure Pass. You actually turn off CO 133 onto Pitkin County Road 3, which is a really nice cruise into town. The entrance to this motorcycle-accessible campground is an almost immediate left after you get on the county road.

Entering the campground, which has an extremely good gravel roads throughout, you’ll need to go left to Osgood or Allgeier loops or right to Mechau loop. The two to the left are designed more for RVs and have electrical hook-ups. And they cost more: $34 per night. Mechau, to the right, is more for camping and costs only $28 per night. Site 7 in Mechau is especially nice. The campground host may charge you $5 extra for each additional vehicle, but they're generally open to negotiation and recognize the logic of four motorcycles not really warranting paying more than a camper with eight people in it.

All 37 sites are level gravel, so you’d better had an air mattress or foam pad. They all have picnic tables and fire rings, and the campground offers water, flush toilets, and showers. There are also dumpsters and you can buy firewood from the campground host.

If you want to go in to town for dinner or breakfast, Redstone is just 1.5 mile away. The Crystal Club Cafe is good but it is only open Wednesday through Monday. There are other restaurants as well, however.
